Physical therapy is a profession dedicated to helping a person maintain, improve, or restore function after disease, injury, impairment, or surgery. It is a great first-line treatment for most muscle and joint problems and has been clinically proven to reduce pain and dysfunction. Physical therapy is generally prescribed by a primary care physician and administered under insurance-based contracts by our physical therapists. Treatment is evidence-based, has minimal side effects and is cost effective. Physical therapy puts the power of recovery back into the hands of the patient.
At your first appointment, your physical therapist will first perform an initial evaluation and will begin by conducting a thorough review of your surgeon’s recommendations, any pertinent medical records, and your medical history. They will perform several tests to see how well you move the affected area and what can be done to help maximize your recovery. A personalized treatment plan is created for each patient with goals established at this time.
With each visit you make to our facility, your progress is documented, allowing the therapist to thoroughly acquaint themselves with your overall ability to reach your original goals established in the initial evaluation. Periodically throughout the process, your physical therapist will evaluate your progress and communicate with your surgeon to determine your plan of care.
